Dick Michigan and the Delegates
Posted: October 2, 2009 at 5:35 pmI know I’m supposed to be blogging about the AfP conference, but I discovered something interesting that I wanted to share.
The one thing that I truly admire about Rick Snyder’s campaign for governor is that he is making good use of the internet. With that, I saw a posting from Jon Yob talking about the “Run With Rick Campaign” where Snyder is attempting to get people registered as precinct delegates. Interestingly enough, I did a little digging, and found that not only is Rick Snyder not a delegate, but he’s didn’t even run.
A simple qfv query will show that Dick Michigan lives in Superior Township, Precinct 5. So taking a look at the 2008 precinct delegate elections, we see:
Hmm. Looks like Mr. “Let’s get more delegates” isn’t even a delegate himself.
Also interesting, I found these results from the year 2000 for Ann Arbor Township
Looks like the guy we got to Win in 10 couldn’t even win his precinct delegate seat. But what happened in 2008 you may ask?
Is it acceptable to forget to run for precinct delegate in order to run for party chairman? I don’t know.
All joking aside, the talk of the town since Mackinac has been about how much of a joke the Snyder campaign was. Both on the island and off. He may have bought the straw poll, but the buck stops there. This race is between Bouchard and Cox, Snyder is just a sideshow to see how much money he can put out while still being able to run his expensive precinct delegate campaign. Also, kudos to his campaign volunteers for giving us all something to talk about till he drops out of the race.
